Gasa Hot Spring trek is a moderate trek, which also includes
the sightseeing of Paro valley, Thimphu (capital of Bhutan),
Punakha and the surrounding valleys. Highest altitude on
this trek is approximately (3,840m/12,600f). The villages
of Gasa with its hot springs and Laya are north of Punakha.
No road extends from the trailhead at Tashithang up the
valley as of yet and the only way to get here is on foot.
Laya is a large isolated region in the far northwest of
the Gasa district. The majority (roughly 800) of people
in this area are from a group called Layap, who have their
own language, customs and distinct dress.
