ITINERARY
for 10-Day Lhasa Everest Basecamp Kathmandu tour.
Day 01:
ARRIVE LHASA
Fly from Kathmandu, Chengdu or Beijing
to Lhasa.
On arrival transfer to hotel in Lhasa. Afternoon short walk
to Barkhor square in central Lhasa. Rest of the day free
for rest and acclimatization. Hotel.
Days 02 & 03: LHASA SIGHTSEEING
TOURS
Two full days of sightseeing tours of Lhasa. Visit the great
Potala Palace the residence of the Dalai Lamas of Tibet;
Norbulinka, the Summer Palace; Drepung & Sera, two of
the biggest Buddhist monasteries of Tibet; the Jokhang Temple,
the holiest shrine in Tibet; and the bustling Barkhor Tibetan
Bazaar. Hotel.
Day 04: LHASA
- GYANTSE
Drive to Gyantse passing besides the beautiful Yamdrok Tsho
(Turquoise Lake), crossing the Kamba La pass and Karo La
pass. Hotel.
Day 05: GYANTSE
- SHIGATSE
AM: Visit The Kumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery at Gyantse.
Embark on a 3 hour drive to Shigatse through Tibetan farmlands
and settlements.
PM: Sight seeing Tour of The Tashilunpo Monastery and the
free Tibetan market. Hotel.
Day 06: SHIGATSE
- SAKYA
Visit the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Shigatse and the town.
Afternoon drive to Sakya which is the seat of the Sakyapa
School of Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight at Sakya Hotel.
Day 07: SAKYA - RONGPHU MONASTERY
Drive over rocky terrain on 4-WD Land cruiser/s to the village
of Dza Rongphu. Overnight Rongphu Monastery Lodge.
Day 08: DAY HIKE/WALK TO EVEREST
BASE CAMP
A 2 hr. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to
the base of the highest peak on earth - The North Face Of
Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan.
Explore the Basecamp and The Rongphu glacier. Retreat to
lodge. Later in the afternoon, return to Tingri. Hotel.
Day 09: RONGBUK
MONASTERY - NYALAM or ZANGMU
Drive downhill to Nyalam crossing two spectacular passes
- The Lalung La & Nyalam Pass. Or continue towards Zangmu.
Guest House.
Day 10: NYALAM
or ZANGMU - KATHMANDU
Drive downhill to Zhangmu and to The Friendship Bridge where
transportation awaits for the Groups final journey to Kathmandu.
END of Tibet Everest Basecamp tour.
